Hi there! I’m Laura, a 29-year-old originally from Bogota, Colombia, but currently residing in Cologne, Germany. Five years ago, I embarked on a journey away from my homeland, gathering numerous stories, memories, and photos along the way. Inspired by this, I’ve decided to create this space to share my experiences.
In 2018, my adventure led me to Germany. Prior to that, I made a brief stop in the USA for three months, where I assisted at a Student Center and spent quality time with my family. Arriving in Germany in August 2018, I began my journey as an Au Pair in Essen, all while searching for universities to pursue my master’s degree. Eventually, I achieved my goal and relocated to Münster in October 2019 to commence my studies.
During my second year in Germany, I encountered a whirlwind of emotions. Homesickness crept in, especially during the winter months, but I managed to overcome the challenges I faced. In 2020, I embarked on my first internship in Düsseldorf, delving into the German corporate world, which fascinated me at the time. Motivated by this experience, I took a bold leap and secured a position at the largest German automotive company, fulfilling a long-held dream. However, despite my initial excitement, I discovered that true happiness eluded me in that role.
Upon completing my studies, I made the decision to seek a city brimming with culture and chaos, leading me to Cologne. Although my journey hasn’t been without its challenges, I’ve learned a valuable lesson: everything happens for a reason. One day, when you reflect on your experiences, you’ll feel an immense sense of pride for your strength and bravery.
